2nd track from their 2nd (2008) album '越长大越孤单 It gets lonelier as you grow up'

多年以后你回到我身

duō nián yǐ hòu nǐ huí dào wǒ shēn biān

You return back to my side after many years

不安全充了你疲倦的双眼

bù ān quán chōng mǎn le nǐ pí juàn de shuāng yǎn

Your tired eyes full of insecurities

看着我也告

kàn zhe wǒ yě gào sù wǒ

Stares back at me and indicate to me

你是否依然相信童

nǐ shì fǒu yī rán xiàng xìn tóng huà

Whether you still believe in fairytales

你曾

nǐ céng duì wǒ shuō

You mentioned before

每颗心都寂寞

měi kē xīn dōu jì mò

That every heart is lonely

每颗心都脆弱

měi kē xīn dōu cuì ruò

Every heart is fragile

望被触摸

dōu kě wàng bèi chù mō

Every one of them yearn to be touched

但你的心永地燃

dàn nǐ de xīn yǒng yuǎn dì rán shāo zhe

But your heart will always be burning

地不会褪色

yǒng yuǎn dì bú huì tuì sè

And will never fade forever

大越 孤

yuè zhǎng dà yuè  gū dān

It gets lonelier as you grow up

大越 不安

yuè zhǎng dà yuè  bù ān

It becomes more insecure as you grow up

也不得不看梦想的翅膀被折断

yě bù dé bú kàn mèng xiǎng de chì bǎng bèi zhé duàn

It is unavoidable to see the wings of your dreams snap

也不得不收回曾 自己

yě bù dé bù shōu huí céng jīng de huà  wèn zì jǐ

And you cannot help but take back what you have said, asking oneself

真的眼睛哪去了?

nǐ chún zhēn de yǎn jīng nǎ qù le

Where has the sincerity in your eyes gone?

大越 孤

yuè zhǎng dà yuè  gū dān

It gets lonelier as you grow up

大越 不安

yuè zhǎng dà yuè  bù ān

It becomes more insecure as you grow up

也不得不 打你的降落

yě bù dé bù  dǎ kāi bǎo hù nǐ de jiàng luò sǎn

You have no choice but to open your parachute for protection

也突然明白未来的路不平坦

yě tū rán jiān míng bái wèi lái de lù bú píng tǎn

And suddenly understand that the road into the future will not be smooth

说这是 必然

nán dào shuō zhè gǎi biàn shì  bì rán

Does it mean that this change is inevitable

你曾说每颗心都寂寞

nǐ céng duì wǒ shuō měi kē xīn dōu jì mò

You mentioned before that every heart is lonely

每颗心都脆弱

měi kē xīn dōu cuì ruò

Every heart is fragile

望被触摸

dōu kě wàng bèi chù mō

Every one of them yearn to be touched

看着我 也告

kàn zhe wǒ  yě gào sù wǒ

Look at me and tell me

你的心 依旧 燃

nǐ de xīn  yī jiù  rán shāo zhe

That your heart is still burning strong

I'm glad you like it and thanks for adding me ^_^ I'll add you back, although I'm not into politics and just watch a little anime.. but it is always great to make new friends. nice to meet you!

Hee, I'm just glad to meet a Chinese translator, so I can brush up on my shoddy Chinese ^_^. I like to keep up with music news and lyric translations of my favorite songs. Although I don't talk about it much on my LJ, I am an avid collector of Chinese and Japanese music, and I think we share a lot of the same tastes! Milk@Coffee is awesome, one of my fave indie bands.

ooh, hello fellow Jap and Chn music fan ^_^ I just translate a bit here and there in my free time. yeah, milk@coffee are pretty good. i dunno.. the chinese music industry kinda lack really good addictive songs nowadays, hence milk@coffee's new album was a relief.

I've recently been listening to songs by alan. She's a tibetian who started of releasing songs in japanese but her newest single is in chinese. She's good too ^_^

Oh, I love alan! I've gotten addicted to her song, Xin Zhan (which perhaps I can prod you to translate at some point? XD) for that new...forget the name, but it's the theme song of an epic Chinese movie coming out soon. I didn't know she was Tibetan, though! I really like her cover songs collection too; her traditional instrumental interpretation of Guang Liang's Tong Hua (my all time favorite tragic ballad) is really quite lovely and unique ^^.

You read my mind! I was thinking of doing it someday because its quite interesting. But poetic lyrics are difficult and tricky to put into english. At least I get more exposure to that style of chinese writing, if I do get around doing it ^_^

I find tibetan singers generally have really good voices. It was a good move for her to do the theme song for Red Cliff though, well-known storyline and famous actors. Very good publicity XD

I love Chinese poetry ^_^ I remember having to memorize the classics back in school. I'd love to read your interpretation! Actually, I wouldn't mind trying to translate too, except I'm horrible at picking out lyrics from a song; I need the words in front of me to get anything out of them (this goes even for songs in English that I'm familiar with). Can you give me the general gist of the words, though? What is the movie about anyway? I've never heard of Red Cliff till now...

Since you know a lot of Chinese songs, any you can think of that are similar in mood and tone to Xin Zhan? I love the tragic and grandiose beauty. Only one I could come up off the top of my head was Endless Love from that Jackie Chan movie...the one where he falls in love with a Korean princess or something.

(the battle of) Red Cliff is one of the battles fought during the Three Kingdoms involving famous people like Zhu Ge Liang, Zhou Yu, Cao Cao etc. The story can be found in the chinese classic 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms'. Not sure if the names ring a bell to you ^_^ the show is about war tactics, alliances and stuff like that. Managed to watch the movie 2 days ago.

It was subtitled into english in my country, including the song. The translation was very well done, I'll never be able to interpret it as fluently as that so I'm just going to find that version on the web, hopefully. The lyrics is about a person's feelings on wanting to fight a war side by side with this other person.

About songs of similar genre, the ones I can think of at the moment are those from other similar chinese olden days blockbuster movies. haha.. I loved the theme song for The Banquet. Jay Chou's Ju Hua Tai from that movie he acted in, Coco Lee's Yue Guang Ai Ren from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon etc. That song from the Jackie Chan movie, did you listen to the version sang by Han Hong and Sun Nan? Cos I found it way more tragic then the one Jackie Chan sang with the korean lady ^_^
